What’s Where on The Resort?

The Resort:

The Resort is bigger than it looks – it stretches across a vast 234 hectares of land that is divided by two plateaux, East and West. We have put this page together so that you can quickly get your bearings and find your way around the various areas and facilities of the Resort nice and easily.

The West Plateau is the hub of the Resort, containing all the villages (comprising of apartments, junior villas and communal pools) as well as a selection of detached villas. This is where you will also find the Resort Village Centre and Resort facilities.

The East Plateau (accessed by car, or a 30 minute hilly walk from the Village Centre) is the most peaceful area of the Resort, home to detached villas only.

This map shows the location of all of the apartments and villas that we rent out. The colours depict the number of bedrooms (Red: 1 or 2 bedrooms | Green: 3 bedrooms | Blue: 4 bedrooms | Yellow: 5 or 6 bedrooms). The Purple icons indicate Resort Facilities.

The Resort village centre:

In the centre of the Resort, on the West Plateau, you will find the Villlage Square (or Village Centre) that hosts all of the Resort Facilities (with the exception of the Horse Riding Centre):
* Resort Restaurants
* Supermarket & Bakery
* Costa Coffee
* Haagen-Dazs
* Golf Clubhouse (Restaurant and Proshop)
* The Tennis Academy (Tennis, Padel Tennis and Basketball courts, and Proshop)
* Dream Team Soccer School
* The Spa
* The Gym
* Pharmacy
* ATM
* Medical Centre
* Leo’s Car Hire
* Kids Playpark
* Beer Garden
* The Cycling Shop

The villages:

There are a number of lovely villages within the Resort which have their own individual sense of community, each with something unique to offer and each with wonderful communal pools. All of the villages are within walking distance of the Resort Village Centre, with Orpheus village the furthest afield with a slightly longer walk, of around 25 minutes (though it’s a beautiful walk).

Visit our Villages Overview Page to learn more about each village – it has lots of photos, information and videos.

We have also created an interactive map of the villages that show the location within each of every property that is available for rent with aphroditerentals.com:

Hestiades Greens
Adonis Village
Alexander Heights
Theseus Village
Zephyros Village
Helios Heights
Apollo Heights
Orpheus Village

Family Fun at The Resort

Family Fun at The Resort

Family Fun at The Resort

There's plenty of fun to be had!

The Resort located at Aphrodite Hills is a fantastic choice of holiday destination for families, not just for the abundance of sunshine, the beautiful scenery, or the high level of safeness, but also for the wonderful facilities available that children can enjoy whilst here; keeping the little ones active and entertained while on holiday. That’s if you can drag them away from the pool of course!

The sport facilities at the Resort are first class, and offer children the opportunity to learn new skills or hone existing skills, but in a fun environment. This is particularly true of the Dream Team Soccer School, located next to the Tennis Academy. Lee and his team of UEFA qualified coaches offer private and group coaching all year round, as well as Masters Football Camps during selected weeks in UK holiday periods. Read more about Dream Team here. The Tennis Academy and Golf Academy also offer private coaching (individual, pairs and groups), and normally run summer group coaching sessions that are a great social way for children to learn, play and make friends. Read more about the Tennis Academy and Golf Academy here. Don’t forget that you can even simply rock up and buy driving range tokens for balls, and hire a few clubs and hit a few balls too.

The Tennis Academy also hosts three padel tennis courts (coaching is also available for padel), as well as a basketball court with adjustable nets. There is a great refreshment bar (that sells good coffee, soft drinks and alcoholic beverages) and plenty of seating at The Tennis Academy, as well as a really friendly and welcoming atmosphere, so parents can enjoy chilling out watching their kids take part if they don’t feel like being active themselves. This is one of the most social areas on the Resort.

If your children are more orientated towards animals then the The Horse Riding Centre is situated a little further past the top of the Resort, along a 3km dirt track (don’t worry, it’s level and can be accessed by car) that runs through some beautiful, typical Cypriot countryside. The Horse Riding Centre has a yard, school and is home to happy healthy horses, ponies and Cypriot donkeys! They run a lovely pony club during summer months where little ones can help groom the ponies and horses, but even if you don’t fancy booking the kids in for lessons, treks or pony club, it’s still a fun and worthwhile visit to pop in. Learn more about the Horse Riding Centre here.

In the Village Centre, just beneath the Italian restaurant, there is a great playpark, which is free of charge for residents and non-residents of the Resort. It is a sand park so the ground doesn’t overheat in summer months and the climbing frames and swings have shade ports and trees for some protection from the sun too. The zip line is a firm favourite here!

Time by the pool is up there as a favourite holiday activity. It never ceases to amaze how much time children can be spent splashing, swimming and jumping around in a swimming pool. We recommend investing in some pool toys for your holiday, the best place to get these from is Jumbo superstore in Paphos Kings Avenue Mall.

If you venture off the Resort then there are of course plenty of other holiday activities to be enjoyed in Cyprus – Scuba Diving is a wonderful option (for children over 8 years, we recommend our friends at Pissouri Bay Divers), the Waterpark (we recommend Fasouri Watermania near Limassol), boat trips (try our friends over at Latchiwatersports), beach days and more!

Whichever activities you choose to enjoy during your holiday at the Resort, we guarantee you will have the best fun making memories together as a family.

Cyprus - a History of Wine

Cyprus – a History of Wine

Cyprus’ love affair with wine is ages old, in fact archaeological excavations indicate that production of wine on the island dates back more than 5500 years, making it one of the very oldest wine industries in the world. This history continues to be written by today’s winemakers who use traditional indigenous grape varieties along with well known grape varieties to produce some wonderful wines which we highly recommend you try for yourself.

Places of interest in the historic story of wine making include the picturesque villages of Omodos and Laneia, where you can view the most ancient of wine presses: Laneia’s dates back to 1844 which is the same year that the first contemporary winery ETKO Ltd opened. Paphos Mosaics also beautifully depict wine making and consumption.

You simply cannot discuss wine making in Cyprus without mentioning Commandaria, an amber coloured desert wine which is the world’s oldest named wine still in production. Produced since around 700BC, it is known as the “wine of the kings and the king of the wines” because it was very famous amongst Royalty in the 12th century and was even heavily exported to many European Royal Courts. Legend has it that Commandaria was served at Richard Coeur de Lion’s wedding to Queen Berengaria in 1911.

We urge you to take a day and experience Cyprus’ wine production for yourself – the history and the beautiful scenery that this journey will take you on will add to the magic of discovering the stunning tastes on offer. Originally pressed by foot before the days of electricity, wine production, although still traditional, is very sophisticated in comparison and wineries are aplenty throughout the island. The Cyprus Tourist Organisation have compiled a wine route programme, made up of 7 routes, which is a great reference and we will give a brief overview of each. Don’t forget to call ahead to arrange your appointment with the wineries though!

We recommend that you ask for wines produced by indigenous varieties by name, which are very rarely used in blends – these include:
WHITE: Xinistry, Spourtiko, Promara, Muscat of Alexandria*.
RED: Mavro, Maratheftiko, Giannoudi, Lefkada.
*Muscat of Alexandria is mainly a dessert wine. Top tip: try Muscat Ayia Mavri Winery in Kilani Village where an old charming couple have won multiple awards.

About - Pissouri Village

Pissouri Village - Our Picturesque Neighbour

Googlemap Location: Pissouri Village Square
Googlemap Location: Pissouri Bay

Pissouri is a quiet, traditional and very picturesque village around a 15 minute drive from Aphrodite Hills, towards Limassol.  Pissouri is considered as having two areas; the village (with gorgeous village square) and the bay (with a wonderful beach).

The village itself sits on a hillside, facing the south offering wonderful views of the Mediterranean Sea, as well as the Troodos mountains. In the heart of the village you can find the lovely cobble-floored village square which has a beautiful fountain, enclaved by a selection of lovely tavernas and bars. We recommend parking near the village square and taking some time to meander around the village, in and out of its little winding narrow streets, where you can get a real sense of Cypriot life – the village houses with courtyards and abundance of local plants are lovely to see, and the quiet nature of the village is really refreshing, it’s like taking a trip back in time.

Other highlights in the village include:
* Apostle Andrea Gothic-style Church: in the village square
* Pissouri Amphitheatre: near the village square. Entertainment events run throughout the year here and are a wonderful experience if you get the chance to attend; the modern amphitheatre has a gorgeous view of the sunset and sea, made even more magical by live music under the stars.
* Cape Aspro: the stunning Cape that sweeps from Pissouri towards Aphrodite’s Rock (roughly 500 feet high). This area is one of the most stunning in Cyprus, with limestone cliffs dropping into the vast Mediterranean Sea. If you are a walker, then the view of Cape Aspro can be enjoyed on the Genesis Nature Trail, starting up in the village near the residential area known as ‘Pine Bay’.
* Cyprus Nights: normally hosted every Friday in the village square throughout summer season. This is a really entertaining way of enjoying and learning about Cypriot Culture with traditional food, music and dancing.

______

Pissouri Bay is home to Pissouri Beach, a beautiful pebble beach enclosed by stunning white limestone cliffs, which we definitely recommend our guests visit during their stay in Cyprus. The beach hosts plenty of sunbeds and parasols, as well as a great choice of watersports – whether you’re into adrenaline rushed jet skiing or a relaxed kayak, this is a beautiful spot from which to enjoy all varieties of fun in the sea. A day at the beach here is a wonderful way to spend time, with lots of little shops and restaurants to get your ice creams and refreshments from, some on the beaches edge, some on the main road running parallel to the beach.

Walkers can also enjoy exploring Cape Aspro from here, on the Cape Aspro Nature Trail starting near the Columbia Beach Hotel at the far end of the bay.

Whether you choose to visit the village or the bay, or both, make sure you read our Eating Out Guide for Pissouri Village and Eating Out Guide for Pissouri Bay for ideas on the best eateries around.
